VIDEO: Top Cardinals Prospect Breaks Slump With 2-Home Run Game

It wasn't the best start to the season for St. Louis Cardinals' No. 2 prospect Nolan Gorman. The power-hitting infielder couldn't get going at the plate during his first three games, but that all changed on Sunday afternoon. Gorman smacked two long home runs for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds.

Gorman went deep to center in the third inning before launching a pitch far past the wall in right center in the eighth inning. While the Redbirds fell to the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 6-3, the efforts of the No. 32 overall prospect in baseball gave the fans something positive to cheer about.
Bouncing back from an 0-9 start with five strikeouts in a big way just goes to show the talent Gorman possesses. Keep in mind Gormand only played in 76 games with Memphis last season, so it makes sense that he is still adjusting to facing some of the sport's best young pitchers at the Triple-A level.
The 21-year-old slugger posted a .274/.320/.465 slash line with the Redbirds to go along with 45 runs scored, 14 home runs, 48 RBI and 3 stolen bases. He also earned an invitation to the MLB All-Star Futures game and dominated the Arizona Fall League across the months of October & November.
It won't be long before Gorman is smashing balls into the seats at Busch Stadium in front of the Cardinals faithful. For now, he will continue perfecting his skills in hopes of being called up to the majors. St. Louis has +3000 odds to win the 2022 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
