By Larry Rupp

The Miami Dolphins just barely missed making the playoffs last season and head into 2021 with their eyes set on getting over that hump in the AFC Conference. A lot of the Dolphins' success will come down to the development of young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who recently revealed a troubling truth about his rookie season.

Tua Tagovailoa Miami Dolphins
This isn't exactly the type of statement fans or coaches want to hear from the team's starting quarterback. However, it's possible Tagovailoa did not believe he would see much playing time out on the field given he was stuck behind veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick on the depth chart to start the season.
The transition from the college football to the NFL is also very difficult as the playbook's depth increases tenfold at the professional level. As long as Tagovailoa is putting in the effort to learn it fully this time around, he should be ready to lead this team to their playoff aspirations.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide player still put together a solid rookie season despite any struggles he had. He led the Dolphins to a 6-3 record in his nine starts and completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,814 yards. Tagovailoa also posted 14 total touchdowns and threw just 5 interceptions.
There is a lot of room for Tagovailoa to grow next season and he could take a major step up by refining his skills. Miami currently has odds set at +118 to make the playoffs and odds set at +3000 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
