Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne missed his entire rookie season due to a Lisfranc injury and met with reporters on Tuesday to provide an update on his recovery. The Clemson product even took a shot at former head coach Urban Meyer for all the drama that surrounded the team.

Jaguars News

Etienne mentioned that "if there was any year to miss, I missed a great one." Of course, Meyer was fired in December after leading the team to a 2-11 record. Off the field issues brought up a lot of questions regarding his leadership abilities and ultimately proved to be too much of a distraction.

The Jaguars drafted Etienne as the second running back off the board in 2021 and all signs point to the him suiting up for regular season action this fall. The 23-year-old told reporters that he is 85 to 90 percent recovered, which lines up perfectly with the rehab timeline he was given last year.

What role Etienne has on the Jacksonville offense is yet to be determined. He shined as a dual-threat back during college, racking up 4,952 rushing yards and 1,155 receiving yards in 55 games played. Etienne also owns the FBS record for most career games scoring a touchdown (46).

The Jaguars are hoping the duo of Etienne and quarterback Trevor Lawrence can guide the franchise in the right direction moving forward. The hiring of Super Bowl winning head coach Doug Pederson should give the locker room a sense of stability as well. Jacksonville looks ready to improve.

For now, the Jaguars remain a long shot in FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl Odds at +8000 odds.
