The Houston Texans shook up their season in October after letting go of head coach and GM Bill O'Brien. It's clear that O'Brien wasn't suited to handle both roles and succeed, so Houston is making sure to find two different hires to fill the vacant positions rather than combine the responsibilities.
The Texans are taking their GM search seriously, as evidenced by the All-Star cast of sports figures they've assembled to aid in the hiring process.
Hall of Fame coaches Tony Dungy and Jimmy Johnson will serve on the committee, along with Texans legend Andre Johnson, Rod Graves and longtime San Antonio Spurs GM R.C. Buford. That's quite a cast Houston has put together, and it should help them find the right candidate, given each person's unique experience.
After starting the season just 1-6, star QB Deshaun Watson has helped lead his team to three wins in the last five games. Houston currently sits third in the AFC South with a 4-8 record.
Watson has admitted that this has been a tough year with all of the team's struggles. The next GM through the door will need to help the team reach its full potential under Watson and make sure the stud quarterback doesn't get unhappy to the point of looking for a new home.
