Steelers Reveal Quarterback Plans for Final Preseason Game
By Larry Rupp

All signs point to the Pittsburgh Steelers keeping three quarterbacks on their roster this season as they look to move on from the Ben Roethlisberger era. The favorite to lock down the Week 1 gig is Mitchell Trubisky, though. The free agent signee will start the final preseason game on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers Preseason
Trubisky has now been awarded the start in each of Pittsburgh's three preseason games and he has taken advantage of the opportunity. The 28-year-old is a combined 9-of-15 for 123 yards and one touchdown. He has also shown an ability to keep plays alive by racking up 14 yards on two carries.
What will be more interesting to see on Sunday is whether Mason Rudolph of Kenny Pickett takes reps with the second-team offense. The battle for the backup spot has not had a clear victor through two games. Both players have looked stellar running an offense built for a clean pocket-passer.
Rudolph is an impressive 26-of-36 for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Pickett has looked poised, completing 19 of his 22 pass attempts for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Fans would be quick to call for the rookie's number if Trubisky looks anything but solid to start the regular season.
The Steelers will finish with one or less loss for the fifth preseason in a row, which speaks to the level of preparation head coach Mike Tomlin likes to have. Pittsburgh is slated as a 5-point home favorite against the Detroit Lions with odds set at -240 on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
