While the New York Mets already won the MLB's offseason with big move after big move, the final piece to their offseason puzzle has been put on hold. Stuck in continued negotiations after a medical concern was raised, the Mets have yet to officially sign Carlos Correa to the 12-year, $315 million contract they verbally agreed to back in December.

Now, those negotiations have taken a shocking turn.

A finalized deal is still very possible, but SNY reporter Andy Martino is hearing of a worst-case outcome for the Mets. According to his sources, the franchise has gotten “very frustrated” in the discussions and has considered walking away.

There have been separate reports suggesting the two sides are expecting a resolution soon, and one indicating a mystery team entered the conversation. At this point, it's anybody's guess if Corra will end up in Queens next season or not.

This is a frustrating outcome for Mets fans, who believed the Correa addition was a final piece to put them over the top as clear World Series favorites in 2023. For now, the Mets hold +650 odds to win the championship on FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
