The NBA season is finally set to resume on Thursday night, and that has basketball on everyone's mind.

That includes New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas, who revealed his pick for the best player in the NBA. It was something of a surprising one, too, skipping past the common choices of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James or Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Thomas instead picks Houston Rockets guard James Harden, who was absolutely dominating the NBA in just about every scoring stat before the season was put on hold in mid-March. This year is on pace to be the third consecutive NBA scoring title for Harden, who hasn't averaged any fewer than 30.4 points per game since the 2016-17 season.

Of course, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Thomas values offense above all else. He's led the NFL in receptions in each of the last two seasons, including setting the single-season record with 149 catches (which he turned into a league-leading 1,725 yards) in 2019.

Harden and the Rockets will resume their season on Friday, July 31, with a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Rockets as slight 1.5-point underdogs for that one.
