The New Orleans Saints are in an interesting spot as they approach their first season in forever without Drew Brees under center. With NFL training camp being just over a month away, the team has yet to decide on whether Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston will be the No. 1 quarterback going forward. While such a process could bring out the worst in people, it's done the opposite for Winston.

As the team continues with their minicamp, Saints reporter Nick Underhill tweeted on Wednesday that Winston's teammates continue to praise him for his leadership. What's more impressive is that this has happened multiple times and not just as a one-off comment.

The praise surrounding Winston's leadership has gotten to the point where even Hill is complimenting him. ESPN's Mike Triplett wrote on Tuesday that Winston has always been supportive of Hill, even dating back to when the latter started in Brees' absence last season.

"I think there's obviously a lot of conversation here about this competition and everything else -- but I'm super supportive of [Winston], and I've felt nothing but support from him as well."

Taysom Hill, Saints QB

Knowing that Winston is supporting a teammate who he's directly competing against speaks volumes about his personality. After all, a starting quarterback needs to lead both on and off of the field. What Winston's doing now, even if it's just minicamp, could end up working in his favor as the process continues.

After barely seeing any action throughout the 2020 NFL season, Winston has his eyes set on being a starting QB once again. The 27-year-old signal-caller last started for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, finishing the campaign with 5,109 passing yards and 33 touchdowns. Unfortunately, he also had 30 interceptions to go along with those stats.

Fortunately for Winston, it's looking like the No. 1 quarterback job is his to lose. FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring him to be the Saints' Week 1 starter at -280 odds. Meanwhile, Hill's odds of winning the job sit at +220.
