Saints Among Teams Interested in Big-Name Free Agent Cornerback

The New Orleans Saints spent months making cuts and roster moves to get under the NFL's salary cap, and now they're in position to potentially sign some worthwhile free agents. With Janoris Jenkins being a cap casualty, the team needs to address a need in the secondary.
Saints fans should be excited about the free-agent cornerback New Orleans is being linked to in the early part of negotiations.
The #Saints are among the teams expressing interest in five-time Pro Bowl CB Richard Sherman, per sources. Sherman’s old DBs coach in Seattle, Kris Richard, now has the same job in New Orleans and the team is in the cornerback market after releasing Janoris Jenkins.

Richard Sherman Saints Rumors
The Saints are said to be showing interest in veteran defensive back Richard Sherman as Day 2 of free agency gets underway. Not only does New Orleans need a Jenkins replacement, but Sherman has a connection to the coaching staff via Kris Richard, which could help the Saints' pursuit.
Even entering his 30s, Sherman has been able to make an impact. In 2019 with the San Francisco 49ers, he racked up 3 interceptions and 11 passes defensed along with 48 solo tackles in 15 starts. He stepped up on the 49ers' Super Bowl run as well, registering an INT in two of the team's three playoff games.
Injuries limited Sherman to just five contests in 2020. With the injury struggles and his age, he could be an affordable target this offseason, and New Orleans would be wise to nab another veteran leader for their locker room as they enter a new era following Drew Brees' retirement.
