Russell Westbrook Instagram Update Makes Ominous Statement

Russell Westbrook's tenure and first year with the Los Angeles Lakers has been anything but ideal. A questionable fit from the get go, both from an on-court and locker room standpoint, the critics assumptions all seemed to come true this season.

There was clearly much trepidation about Westbrook's future in Los Angeles, both by him and the fanbase down the stretch this season. And those worries were only amplified even more by Westbrook's latest move – deleting everything on his Instagram.

Players cleaning out their Instagram isn't exactly a new move, but let's put it this way, it's not something done by someone who is content with how things are going. There is almost certainly some sort of motive or message behind the move, whether big or small, mature or immature is up for debate, but it means something. Of course, Westbrook or anyone connected to him will never admit this.

Now, Westbrook still does have himself in a Lakers uniform in his profile picture, but there is no other mention of the team.

Westbrook or the Lakers being unhappy in this marriage ultimately could be null and void. He still has one year left (assuming he exercises his player option) on a monster deal that is set to pay him over $47 million next season. There aren't many ways to get out of that.

The Lakers would have to part with additional assets they don't have and wouldn't exactly be getting equal value in return on top of that.

It's clear things aren't great in Tinsel Town, but this marriage might have to continue for another year, regardless of how many pictures Westbrook has on his Instagram.
