The MLB's Opening Day is just over a week away, making the final stretch of Spring Training games one terrible time for injury updates.

That's exactly what happened with the Cincinnati Reds, who suffered a big injury blow to their infield depth ahead of the regular season.

Donovan Solano Injury Update

Newly-signed free agent infielder Donovan Solano has been diagnosed with a left hamstring injury. Fortunately, the injury appears to only be a strain or tweak, but his Opening Day status is officially in jeopardy.

Reds News

Solano was in line for semi-regular at-bats as the main backup at second base, third base and shortstop. His injury status is worth monitoring ahead of Cincinnati's Opening Day scheduled for Thursday, April 7 against the Atlanta Braves.

The versatile veteran joins Cincinnati after three years with the San Francisco Giants. Solano slashed .280/.344/.404 a year ago and saw regular action as San Francisco's second baseman. He's tallied 400 career games at second base and at least 33 games playing either shortstop or third base.
