Panthers Rumors Link Team to Pro Bowl Free Agent

The Carolina Panthers struggled to find any level of consistency at the quarterback position last season and the protection up front was a major reason why. The front office already made one move by signing Austin Corbett and now the team has been linked to Duane Brown in some of the latest free-agent rumors.

Brown is a coming off a Pro Bowl season with the Seattle Seahawks in which he turned things around from the midway point on. In Weeks 1-10, the 36-year-old left tackle allowed 7.0 sacks on 22 pressures. However, he only gave up 1.0 sack on an impressive nine pressures from Week 11 on.

Keep in mind Brown has played in at least 10 games in each of his 14 NFL seasons and rarely misses an opportunity to suit up. His consistency would certainly come in handy on a Carolina offensive line that was underwhelming on a weekly basis and allowed the fifth-most sacks in the NFL in 2021 (52.0).

Yes, Brown is nearing the end of his career and the Panthers aren't exactly set up for a Super Bowl run. That doesn't mean having him on the roster wouldn't be beneficial, though. His knowledge of the game could be used to mentor younger players as he acts as a stopgap for the next young talent.

For now, Panthers fans will simply have to wait and see if the rumors turn out to be true or not. Carolina currently has odds set at +10000 to win it all in 2022, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
