Panthers Poach Important Member of Broncos' Coaching Staff

The Carolina Panthers are undergoing a seismic change to their coaching staff, starting with the hire of former Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich to lead the franchise. Reich has been busy building out the remainder of his staff, which included bringing in former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero as a top coordinator.

Evero was not the only defensive mind heading cross country from Denver to Carolina.

On Wednesday, it was reported the Panthers are poaching another key mind from Denver's staff.

According to Panthers insider Joe Perso, former Broncos linebacker coach Peter Hansen is joining Evero's unit. He'll continue to work as a linebackers coach for the Panthers.

Evero and Hansen first crossed paths during their time with the San Francisco 49ers before Evero brought the assistant in for a reunion with the Broncos last year. Player talent obviously plays a factor, but there's no denying just how strong the Broncos' defense was in 2022. Denver ranked No. 13 in points allowed per game and No. 7 in yards.

By comparison, the Panthers ranked No. 19 and No. 22 in those categories, respectively, meaning Evero and his new staff have massive room for improvement in 2023.
