Odell Beckham Jr.-Seahawks Rumors Heating Up Ahead of Release

The biggest story heading into Week 10 is the release of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He'll be subject to waivers first, but the Seattle Seahawks make sense given their need at receiver and the cap space they have to absorb the veteran's contract.

The rumors involving OBJ and Seattle are only heating up ahead of his release on Monday.

A report by USA Today's Mike Jones further adds fuel to the fire. Not only are the Seahawks doing "extensive research" on Beckham, but quarterback Russell Wilson has also implored the team to sign the wideout.

This much focus on OBJ and the Seahawks in the lead up to his release seems to foreshadow how the situation will play out. Beckham's camp has also made it known he wants to clear waivers and be free to sign with a contender, which could make teams hesitant to claim him if he'll be unhappy.

The eighth-year pro's production has declined over the last two seasons, thanks to a combination of chemistry issues with Baker Mayfield and injuries. He's still not far removed from a 1,000-yard campaign in 2019, though, and his fit alongside D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett is tantalizing to think about.

If the 3-5 Seahawks can land OBJ, it'd be a huge boost for a team looking to turn things around after their bye.
