NBA MVP Odds Update

Injuries to Joel Embiid and LeBron James have significantly altered the NBA MVP race this month. The MVP odds took a turn on FanDuel Sportsbook last week as Nikola Jokic became the prohibitive favorite. The Denver Nuggets center has increased his lead with odds of -125 as March comes to a close.

At the start of March, James held a slim lead over Embiid, and Jokic was third with odds of +600. James Harden was +3600, and then +1800 a week later and is now the biggest mover. Harden's MVP odds are currently +700. He's taken over the lead for the NBA championship favorites with Kevin Durant sidelined.

Harden leads the league in assists per game (11.2) and is still a top-10 scorer at 25.8 points per game while adding 8.1 rebounds per contest. Harden poured in 44 points with 14 rebounds in the Nets 113-111 road win at Detroit on March 26.

Jokic has remained healthy while leading the Nuggets (28-18) with a superior stat profile. The star center is averaging 26.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game.

Don't rule out Milwaukee Bucks' two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounpo. He's having another MVP-caliber season with averages of 28.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game plus a career-high of 6.4 assists per contest. Antetokounmpo also chips in 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest - one of just five NBA players to average more than one block and steal per game.

The massive shakeup in the odds the past week is something to watch as Jokic continues his exceptional play, Harden surges, Antetokounmpo delivers and James and Embiid return from injuries with LeBron out until at least the mid-April.
