Luka Doncic is still only 20 years old.
That suggests in a season in which he's posted 29.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game, he might just be scratching the surface. Despite this herculean effort though, Doncic (+350) still trails Giannis Antetokounmpo (-145) in the latest odds to win the NBA MVP, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
For as good as Doncic has been this year, Antetokounmpo has been even better. The reigning MVP has powered the Bucks to an NBA-best 32-6 record, while averaging 30.2 points, 12.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
Doncic might not exactly be nipping at Antetokounmpo's heels, but he's got the second-best odds to win the award.
As for the rest of the field, James Harden's prolific season has given him sole possession of the third-best odds at +430, while the Lakers' duo of Anthony David and LeBron James can both be had at +750.
After that top five, there's a pretty steep drop-off, though. Joel Embiid currently has the sixth-best odds, but he's available at +4100.
Essentially, this appears to be a five-player race for the NBA MVP. Barring a massive shift, this top-heavy race should only continue to get more exclusive as the season progresses, though there's plenty of time for someone to make a late run at the award.
