The Denver Broncos lost their sixth game of the season in Week 10 with an on-field product that looked very status quo. An offense that struggled to muster 10 points against the Tennessee Titans, and a strong defensive effort that kept Denver hanging around to the final whistle.
Quarterback Russell Wilson and new head coach Nathaniel Hackett have been the center of attention for Denver's critics, between questionable play-calling, a lack of intimate knowledge of the playbook, and a general lack of spark.
Despite weeks of calls for change and major criticism around the league, Hackett continues to roll out the same lame on-field offensive product. Until Week 11 when the first-year Broncos' coach finally took a crucial step to improve the situation.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports Hackett will turn over play-calling duties to another member of his staff. Quarterback coach Klint Kubiak will begin calling offensive plays in the Broncos' Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kubiak joined the Broncos in 2022 after serving as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator a year ago. That 2021 Vikings offense ranked top-half of the league in points scored and 12th in total yards.
According to Pelissero, Broncos' players were informed of the decision on Saturday night. It's a desperate move to improve Denver's offense, which ranks dead-last in points scored (14.6 per game) and just 25th in total yards.
Denver has a decent chance to improve their record to 4-6 on Sunday. The Broncos enter this clash against the Raiders as 2.5-point favorites per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
