MLB Insider Pegs Surprising Favorite to Trade for Juan Soto

Nationals superstar Juan Soto turned the MLB trade market on its head when he rejected a massive contract extension with Washington. He is suddenly on the market and could be moved as early as this season's deadline. MLB insider Jon Heyman recently pegged a surprising favorite to land Soto.

Juan Soto Trade Rumors

Heyman mentioned that is is going to be hard for any team to trade for Soto due to the fact that he is one of the game's best hitters at 23 years old. Washington is reportedly aiming to receive a team's top four prospects or established MLB talent in return. That doesn't mean one won't bite, though.

The Texas Rangers are the team Heyman sees making the biggest push for Soto in trade talks. That's right, it's not the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Yankees. After all, Texas' front office showed it's not messing around when it signed All-Stars Corey Seager and Marcus Semien this past offseason.

There's also a gaping hole in the Rangers' outfield core. Adolis Garcia has performed well enough to be the team's center fielder of the future, but the same thing cannot be said about Leody Taveras, Josh Smith or Elier Hernandez. Soto is exactly the type of dangerous corner outfielder Texas needs.

Soto is slashing .293/.427/.541 in his career (555 games) and has smacked 118 home runs. Even in the midst of a down year, Soto was still named to the All-Star game this summer. That's because he leads the NL in walks and is on pace to set a career-high mark in doubles. Soto is truly dominant.
