Matt Breida Injury Update Further Clouds Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert Fantasy Outlook for NFL Week 14

An ankle injury has sidelined Matt Breida since Week 10, but he got in a full practice on Wednesday and looks set to return for the San Francisco 49ers' Week 14 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

While this is a positive for the 49ers, as they continue to fight for the top spot in the NFC West and a potential first-round bye in the playoffs, it doesn't help fantasy football owners much.
The San Francisco backfield has been mired by a full-on committee approach through most of the season, hampering the fantasy value of all of its RBs. Things did finally look like they were settling down when Tevin Coleman got healthy, and he and Breida formed a two-headed attack, but during Breida's recent absence Raheem Mostert has stepped up, throwing another wrench into the fan.
Even when Breida was out, this situation was already a brutal one for fantasy owners to figure out, as Coleman's production and volume have both fallen off while Mostert has turned in some solid performances. It's hard to imagine Coleman falling out of the rotation completely, and Mostert's recent surge is likely going to earn him some looks that he wasn't getting in past games that both Coleman and Breida were healthy for.
The #49ers are optimistic about getting Matt Breida, Joe Staley and Dee Ford back vs. the Saints. https://t.co/VysEjQ9xjh

A matchup with the Saints doesn't help things this week either. New Orleans checks in at sixth against the run in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA metrics, and they've held opposing RBs to bottom-five fantasy production so far this season.
None of the 49ers backs are even RB2 options this week, all checking in 25th or worse at the position in our Week 14 fantasy football PPR rankings.
