The 2021 MLB season hasn't been kind to the Miami Marlins, especially when it comes to injuries. It just seems like there's bad news surrounding a different player each week, with left fielder Corey Dickerson being the latest to find himself on the injured list.

The former all-star landed on the 10-day injured list on June 15 with an undisclosed foot injury. Unfortunately, the Marlins got some bad news on Tuesday as it was revealed that Dickerson would need to wear a walking boot for at least the next few weeks. In other words, it'll be quite some time before he returns to any baseball-related activities.

Corey Dickerson Injury Update

Marlins manager Don Mattingly told reporters that Dickerson's injury will be re-evaluated after three weeks. How much progress the 32-year-old has or hasn't made by that time will determine whether or not the boot can come off. Regardless of when his eventual return happens, this isn't the injury update that Miami was hoping for.

Dickerson has appeared in 62 games for the Marlins so far this season. During that span, he's recorded 12 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 204 at-bats. Dickerson is also set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Considering there were rumors that he could've been moved ahead of the MLB's July 30 trade deadline, you have to think that this injury may limit any potential buyers if he's not fully healed by then.

With a 31-40 record, the Marlins' season is a major uphill battle at best. They're 8.0 games behind the New York Mets for first in the NL East and 10.0 games back of the final wild-card playoff spot. Even though there is still over half of the season left to play, FanDuel Sportsbook has given the Marlins just +4800 odds (5th) to win their division and +14000 odds (T-23rd) to win the World Series.
