The LSU Tigers finished the 2020 college football season with a 5-5 record and came in fourth place in the SEC West. However, the Tigers return a majority of their starters from last season and find themselves being disrespected when it comes to their odds to win the 2021-22 SEC Championship.

LSU has the fifth-best odds to win the conference at +2500, according to college football futures posted on FanDuel Sportsbook. This is a top-tier program, yet it trails Alabama (-150), Georgia (+180), Texas A&M (+1200) and Florida (+1700).

LSU 2021 SEC Championship Odds

The major advantage that the Tigers have over other SEC teams is in who they are bringing back next season. LSU's leading rusher in Tyrion Davis-Prince will be back for his junior season after racking up 493 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns last season. Plus, the team's leading receiver in Kayshon Boutte will be back as well (735 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in 2020).

Nevertheless, the Tigers could also see a major improvement from quarterback Max Johnson. Johnson played in 6 games last season as a freshman and threw for 1,069 yards, 8 touchdowns and just 1 interception. It looks like he will take on the starting gig full-time next fall.

On the other side of the ball, two-time All-SEC cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. headlines an underrated defense. All things considered, this is a team to watch out for next season as it has the pieces in place to succeed.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron knows how to motivate his players, so don't be surprised if the Tigers are in contention for the SEC title all season long.
