Several big-name quarterbacks are expected to change teams in the 2021 offseason, with Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff already being swapped for each other so far. Another name generating trade interest from around the league is Minnesota Vkings quarterback Kirk Cousins.
His head coach, Mike Zimmer, recently made a powerful statement about Cousins with the vultures swirling.
Zimmer is seemingly telling other teams to look elsewhere, because Minnesota is committed to their QB. It's clear that the head coach wants to build a better team around Cousins, rather than start fresh with someone new.
Cousins just had one of the most productive seasons of his career, so it's no wonder the Vikings want to see how far they can go with him under center. He threw for 4,265 yards and a career-best 35 touchdowns in 2020, showing that his best football is still ahead of him.
Cousins' name has been brought up in association with the San Francisco 49ers, who might be scrambling for a Jimmy Garoppolo replacement after missing out on Stafford. But, ESPN's Adam Schefter shot down the idea of Cousins being available at the moment, and Zimmer's comments seem to confirm that.
While QBs like Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz are expected to change teams, Cousins isn't on that list for now.
