Jordan Spieth PGA Championship Prediction 2023

Jordan Spieth will play this week after withdrawing prior to last week's AT&T Byron Nelson with an ongoing wrist injury. The 29-year-old 13-time PGA Tour winner is a 3-time major champion, but only the PGA Championship and Wanamaker Trophy elude his grasp.

Spieth's odds to win have drifted, and he's a risk with the status of his wrist still in question along with his game for the rugged Oak Hill course. Spieth had four top-5 finishes in March and April, and his around-the-green stats are No. 1 in this field over his last 36 rounds on bentgrass courses.

The wrist issue is a concern, however, plus the rest of his strokes gained stats profile doesn't match up with the top players in this year's PGA Championship. Spieth's long iron play from 175 yards out ranks outside the top 125 players over his last 36 rounds, and his par 4 efficiency numbers on longer holes beyond 450 yards are also subpar.

Spieth is not even offered in any tournament matchups, which is a red flag with a potential withdrawal being a risk if his wrist hampers his play. No top-finishing position bets are of interest for Spieth, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he struggled to make the cut. Accordingly, we like Spieth to miss the cut (+220).
