Jonnu Smith's breakout 2020 campaign may have to be put on hold. The Tennessee Titans' tight end went down with an ankle injury in Week 6 and he was unable to return to the game.
Any potential absence for Smith would be a tough break for his fantasy managers, as Smith was fantasy's TE4 prior to Week 6.
Smith had just 1 catch for 13 yards before leaving with that ankle injury. There's nothing concrete about his status for Week 7, but fantasy managers may need to scour the waiver wire for a backup plan if he's ruled out for the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If Smith is out, Ryan Tannehill's outlook would take a slight hit, but the rest of Tennessee's pass-catchers would be in for a sizable boost. Smith was averaging 6.8 targets per game prior to this one, and those would likely be distributed amongst AJ Brown, Adam Humphries and Corey Davis.
That said, Pittsburgh is about as difficult a matchup as it gets, so you probably don't want to start Humphries or Davis unless you're really desperate. Anthony Firkser would be the starting TE in Smith's place, but he's also not going to be on the fantasy radar aside from really deep leagues.
It'll be important to monitor Smith's status throughout the week.
