James Harden MVP Odds Boosted After Trade to Nets

The James Harden trade to the Brooklyn Nets set the NBA world on fire on Wednesday, with the former MVP winner set to join fellow superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant at Barclays Center. Harden's unhappiness in Houston proved to be too much of a distraction, and the Rockets shipped him off in exchange for a boatload of picks.
After falling to +3600 odds to win NBA MVP, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, Harden's odds have rebounded following the trade. The new Nets star is now at +2500 to take home MVP.

Rockets: Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, 3 BKN first-rounders (22, 24, 26), 1 MIL first (22, unprotected), 4 BKN 1st round swaps (21, 23, 25, 27)
Nets: James Harden
Pacers: Caris LeVert, 2nd-rounder
Cavs: Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince
This season Harden is averaging 24.8 points, 10.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. His assist numbers would be the second-highest of his career if they hold, and with both Irving and Durant to find on a nightly basis, he could even surpass the high of 11.2 APG he put up in 2016-17.
Harden's current scoring is a big drop off from the 34.3 PPG he posted last season, although that number should recover as he becomes more engaged on the court again. He will have to compete with two other All-Stars for scoring opportunities, but the Nets will hopefully maximize each star's role within the offense.
Durant has the best odds on the Nets to win MVP at +700, while Irving has fallen to +8500 following his early-season sabbatical.
