Gulfstream Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 1/26/23

The Gulfstream Championship Meet continues, and starting at 12:10 p.m. ET on Thursday we have 9 races.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races after adjusting for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 7 is a featured Allowance race for older fillies and mares going 1 mile on the turf. A full field of 12 plus alternates and competitive group. The numberFire data picks European runners Zelda (9/2) and Paris Peacock (6/1) as top challengers to win.
Zelda breaks from the far outside post with top UK jockey Frankie Dettori riding. She has been off for 2 1/2 months since her US debut (6th), and hasn't won since 2021. Paris Peacock gets first time Lasix along with Bill-Mott trained White Frost (3/1), who has finished first or second in four straight races but hasn't raced in over a year. Paris Peacock has run in four straight stakes races and won two, but finished 6th in her US debut in October. Arm Candy (5/1) with leading jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. is 0-for-7 since her last win in 2021. Talbeyah (6/1) and top jockey Luis Saez drop down from a pair of graded stakes after winning at this level last summer.
2. Clay Soldier and My Lady James, Race 8
FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1 and 6/1

Race 8 is an Allowance race for 3-year-old state bred fillies sprinting 5 furlongs on the Tapeta all-weather track. The numberFire algorithm projects Clay Soldier (4/1) to win ahead of Oh Darlin (8/1) and My Lady James (6/1).
Clay Soldier won her first two starts and improved her speed figure from off the pace to finish third here three weeks ago. She'll race near the front, is in good health and likes the surface, according to Top Race Reports (TRR), who also supports My Lady James.
