The New York Giants have officially released wide receiver Golden Tate. Though he's not quite the player he was during his prime, the Notre Dame product proved he can still be an effective contributor.

Here are the three most likely destinations for Tate in free agency.

Golden Tate Free Agent Destinations

3. Arizona Cardinals

Outside of DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk, the Arizona Cardinals won't have any proven wide receivers if Larry Fitzgerald decides to hang up his cleats this offseason. Tate's services won't be needed if Fitz elects to play in 2020, but the Notre Dame product would be an excellent replacement for Fitzgerald if it comes to that.

2. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers' passing attack is built on generating yards after the catch. Few players do that more effectively than Tate. He'd be a really nice signing for a team that could stand to add some depth behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

1. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers need to upgrade their receiving corps. That's not exactly a secret at this point. Adding Tate could be a nice, low-cost way to upgrade that group without having to overpay. That's important for this organization, as Green Bay is currently $5 million over the cap, per Spotrac. It's not hard to envision Tate playing the Randall Cobb role for the Pack.
