Joe Judge Reveals Plan for Daniel Jones in Final Preseason Game

The 2021 NFL preseason hasn't treated the New York Giants kindly, as the team has dropped its first two exhibition games. One positive takeaway from those losses is that quarterback Daniel Jones has yet to make his 2021 preseason debut, so we likely haven't seen the best that New York has just yet.
Giants head coach Joe Judge revealed his plan for the third-year quarterback ahead of the team's preseason final against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Judge told reporters Monday that Jones will play the entirety of the first half and could play into the second half as well.
Judge said the plan is for Daniel Jones to play the first half of Sunday's preseason finale against the Patriots. Still deciding if he'll play into the second half (would likely only be a series).

Judge also said that the game against the Patriots is being treated as a "dress rehearsal" for the regular season. He's previously stated that Jones and the rest of the starters didn't need that many reps during preseason games due to their offseason training and joint practices with other organizations.
"My expectations at this point would be for Daniel [Jones] to play at least the first half and decide what we do coming out of halftime later in the week."

The 2021 NFL season is a big one for Jones. After a pretty impressive rookie campaign, he went through the infamous "sophomore slump" in 2020. Jones started 14 games for the Giants last year, finishing the campaign with 2,943 passing yards, 11 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, and 11 fumbles. It's never a good time whenever a quarterback commits that many turnovers in a season, so he'll need to have a serious bounce-back year or else the Giants may contemplate someone else under center in 2022.
Unfortunately for the Giants and their fans, it doesn't look like the team will end its playoff drought this year. FanDuel Sportsbook is projecting New York to miss the playoffs at -300 odds.
