Dodgers Injury News: Tony Gonsolin Makes Season Debut on Wednesday

At 34-25, the Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the top teams in the National League. However, that doesn't mean that they can't get any better. The club is expected to receive a momentum boost to their lineup this week in the form of starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin.
The 27-year-old righty is scheduled to make his season debut on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He's missed the first 59 of the Dodgers' games with a shoulder injury.

Tony Gonsolin Injury Update
Assuming nothing has changed about how the Dodgers feel about him, Gonsolin should be able to find a spot in Los Angeles' rotation. He started in eight games for the organization in 2020, ending with a 2-2 record and 2.31 ERA. He also recorded 46 strikeouts in 46.2 innings pitched and wound up finishing 4th in the National League Rookie of the Year Voting.
While the Dodgers haven't been helpless without Gonsolin, they could use his presence on the mound as they chase another NL West title. The Dodgers currently trail the first-place San Francisco Giants (37-22) by 3.0 games and still have to leapfrog the San Diego Padres (37-25) to get to the top in the division.
Fortunately for the team's fans, oddsmakers like Los Angeles' chances of finishing the season with the divisional crown. The Dodgers currently have the best odds to win the NL West at -210. They're also this season's favorites to win the World Series at +340.
