The St. Louis Cardinals are off to a great start in 2022, sitting at 24-18 and just 2.0 games back in the NL Central standings. Fortunately, the good times aren't reserved only for the big league clubs.

On Tuesday, St. Louis announced that top prospect Masyn Winn earned an important Minor League promotion.

Winn, the No. 6 ranked prospect in St. Louis' farm, has been promoted from High-A Peoria to Double-A Springfield. Winn joined No. 4 Michael McGreevy (RHP) and No. 10 Gordon Graceffo (RHP) in this call up.

Winn is a special talent, joining the franchise in the second round of the 2020 June Amateur Draft. Although the Cardinals are focused on grooming him as a shortstop, he touts a 98-mph fastball and has made on relief appearance for Peoria.

The 20-year-old infielder is a shortstop of the future in St. Louis, with Cardinals fans dreaming of a potential All-Star caliber infield featuring him and Nolan Gorman.

Winn's bat is the biggest focus of his development, but he's shined thus far. The right-handed hitter slashed .349/.404/.566 with 15 RBIs and 15 stolen bases en route to his recent promotion (33 games).

The future is bright for St. Louis.
