Quarterback Cam Newton's confidence seems to be growing by the day in regards to his future in the NFL. The 11-year pro recently texted NFL insider Adam Schefter saying that he is drawing interest, but where he eventually ends up will come down to fit and potential to win a Super Bowl ring.

Recent reports do include the Carolina Panthers as a potential landing spot for the 32-year-old signal-caller. Of course, Newton has spent the majority of his career in Carolina. He led the team to a disappointing 0-5 record in his five starts last season and averaged just 85.5 passing yards per game.

It's easy to dive into the last few seasons and wonder if Newton still has any gas left in the tank. Don't overlook the accolades he has gathered throughout his career, though. Newton earned an MVP award while guiding the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2015 and made three Pro Bowls.

The fact that Newton is becoming more and more intent on winning a championship makes it seem as if he is open to taking on a full-time backup job. That hasn't been the case in the past. Newton's rushing capabilities alone (75 career rushing TDs) make him one of the more intriguing QBs available.

This will be an storyline to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the offseason. Waiting to sign until after the 2022 NFL Draft could limit Newton's options, but choosing too soon could make for the wrong fit. No matter what, all signs point to Newton being back on the sidelines this fall.
