It should come as no surprise that the most talked about player in baseball this offseason is the National League's MVP favorite now that he's finally found a new home.
Bryce Harper (+350) is the opening favorite to take home the 2019 National League MVP award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Nolan Arenado (+600) and Paul Goldschmidt (+1000) round out the rest of the top three.
Surprisingly, reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich (+1400) sits in a distant fifth.
With one MVP Award to his name already, Harper's favorite status is more than deserved now that he's landed in Philadelphia. The stud outfielder is expected to anchor one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball this season, featuring the likes of Andrew McCutchen, J.T. Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins and Jean Segura. However, in addition to the incredible bats around him, what may cement Harper's MVP odds is his new home ballpark.
Harper has absolutely flourished at Citizen's Bank Park in his young career, owning a .930 OPS and 14 homers in the 50 games played in the Phillies' home venue.
Harper clearly has all that he needs to succeed, but it's on him to put together the MVP-caliber season everyone is expecting.
Outside of Harper, Goldschmidt could make for an interesting under-the-radar bet. The stud first baseman finds himself on a winning team and can finally shake the Chase Field bias that has hindered his MVP candidacy before.
