Broncos News: Bradley Chubb Emerges as Legit Defensive Player of the Year Candidate

When Denver Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb suffered a season-ending ACL tear in 2019, some people wondered if his NFL career would ever be the same. Fast forward to the current offseason and he's being viewed as a legitimate NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate in 2021.

FanDuel Sportsbook is projecting Chubb to be nearly a top-10 defensive player in 2021. The oddsmaker has the 2020 Pro Bowler listed at +4500 odds to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award next season.

After recovering from his ACL injury, Chubb suited up in 14 games with the Broncos last season. He finished the campaign with 42 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Even though those statistics were down from his rookie campaign, Chubb's efforts earned him Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career. There's a decent chance that he can improve on those numbers in 2021. After all, he isn't spending the offseason recovering from a season-ending surgery this time around.

Chubb and the rest of the Denver defense has a lot of work to do this season if they want to get the team back into the playoffs. The Broncos allowed an average of 27.9 points and 367.9 yards per game in 2020, which suggests that the defense must tighten up a bit going forward.

Even with their struggles over the last half-decade, the Broncos have pretty decent odds when it comes to winning Super Bowl 56. FanDuel Sportsbook has Denver listed at +3000 odds (T-13th) to go on a championship run in 2021.
