The Chicago Bears need all the offensive weapons they can get. Justin Fields disappointed in his rookie season, but it's hard to put all the blame on his shoulder. He had one of the NFL's worst supporting casts, especially when Allen Robinson appeared to be phased out of the offense.

That's why Bears fans should be excited about the latest free agency rumors.

Chicago is among four teams highlighted as early frontrunners to sign free agent wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster if he doesn't return to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Some fans have written JuJu off after a couple down years, but there's still plenty of room for optimism. He showed just how high his ceiling is already in 2018, when he turned 111 receptions into 1,426 yards.

Injuries have held him back since then, but he did still managed 831 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2020. Considering he was catching passes from Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges for that campaign, it's easy to picture him performing even better in the right situation.

With A-Rob, Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd all scheduled to hit free agency, Darnell Mooney is the only returning Bears wideout who saw more than 5 targets in 2022.

They simply can't afford to continue hampering Fields' development with a lack of receiving options, making JuJu a perfect high-upside free agency target.
