Melvin Gordon has reportedly made it clear that he's going to demand a trade, and hold out of Los Angeles Chargers' training camp, if he doesn't receive a new contract. Unfortunately for Gordon, the Chargers don't have much cap space to work with, so a trade could certainly be possible.

If he is moved, Gordon's backup, Austin Ekeler, could see a massive boost to his fantasy value.

Even though he was playing in a limited role, Ekeler shined whenever he was on the field last season. His talents were on full display in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals, a game Gordon sat out due to injury, as Ekeler racked up 94 total yards and a TD on 17 touches.

Ekeler's average draft position (ADP) is currently RB46, though that's likely to increase as the uncertainty surrounding Gordon's situation lingers. Even so, Ekeler looks like a worthy mid-to-late-round gamble.

Ekeler is a proven pass-catcher, having racked up 404 yards and 3 TDs on 39 receptions last season. If Gordon is moved, Ekeler is going to become extremely valuable, especially in PPR leagues.

Even if Gordon's holdout gets resolved, Ekeler is going to be a valuable cog in Philip Rivers' offense. But he could become a league winner if Gordon is eventually traded this season.
