Deebo Samuel made his 2020 season debut last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. While this is great news for San Francisco 49ers fans, his status is questionable for Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins, as Deebo has to pass protocols due to being sick. His absence or limited action should directly benefit rookie Brandon Aiyuk.

After recovering from a foot injury, Deebo re-joined the lineup last week, totaling 45 yards on 34 percent of the snaps. His performance in his first bit of action was encouraging, but his current illness is a bit concerning, given the current state of the world.

Deebo reportedly does not have COVID-19. However, he still must pass a separate list of protocols to even re-enter the building. This means he is not practicing with his team right now, so he could continue to be very limited even if he is active for Sunday.

Brandon Aiyuk Fantasy Outlook

If he is inactive or his snap count is limited in Week 5, rookie Aiyuk could gain the most. Despite playing without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo recently, the 49ers have found creative ways for Aiyuk to find success. Over the past two weeks, he has totaled seven receptions for 88 yards, while also racking up 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

George Kittle is clearly the top weapon on this team, but Aiyuk may be option number two this week in the passing game, which is only good news for fantasy managers of the rookie.
