The San Francisco 49ers' passing attack is getting a much-needed boost this week. Second-year wide receiver Deebo Samuel is set to make his 2020 season debut against the Philadelphia Eagles. He likely won't see a full complement of snaps right away, but he's dynamic enough to make an impact in a limited role.

Samuel is shaping up to be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option this week.

Deebo Samuel Fantasy Outlook

Samuel should benefit from a relatively soft matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in his return. The Eagles are the league's 10th-worst unit against the pass, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics. They've also surrendered league-average fantasy production to opposing wide receivers, despite facing some underwhelming offenses (Washington, the Rams, the Bengals).

Jimmy Garoppolo won't be available in this one, but Nick Mullens has been a solid backup. He completed 25-of-36 passes for 343 yards and a score last week. There shouldn't be too much of a drop-off at QB.

Even with all that working in his favor, though, Deebo is a risky start because he'll reportedly be eased back into the offense. That means he could see a limited snap count, or mainly be used as a decoy.

But this was fantasy's WR9 in PPR formats down the stretch last year (Week 10-17), so it'll be hard to keep him out of your lineup. He'll be a great option the rest of the way, but fantasy managers should know he's a high-risk, high-reward start in Week 4.
