The Seattle Seahawks easily dispatched the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, winning 23-17, although the score makes the game look closer than it actually was. One hot topic from the game was the play of Carson Wentz, who has struggled throughout this season and is expected to cede time to rookie backup Jalen Hurts any second now.
Monday night was not one of Wentz's more memorable performances, and Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin took the opportunity to rip the quarterback on Twitter.
Irvin was unable to suit up against the Eagles due to a torn ACL that has kept him out since Week 3, but he made sure his distaste for Wentz was known. For those who don't know, cheeks refers to someone's posterior.
After struggling mightily in the first half, Wentz and the Eagles finally put together a solid drive to make the score 14-6 heading into halftime. However, the Eagles didn't find the end zone again until a miraculous hail mary thrown by Wentz found Richard Rodgers for a garbage-time TD.
Wentz finished the game with 215 yards, 2 TDs and an interception. It was a performance that Eagles fans are used to, as the QB has thrown the most interceptions in the league this year with 15. He was also sacked six times against the Seahawks, adding to his league-leading total of 46.
It remains to be seen if Philadelphia will give rookie Jalen Hurts an extended look at quarterback, or ride with Wentz as their QB but it seems only a matter of time before Hurts gets an extended look.
