The Miami Dolphins' offense took a big hit earlier in the week, as it was announced that Myles Gaskin was set to miss the team's next three games. He has since been placed on the IR. But things took a turn for the worse on Thursday, as Brian Flores didn't sound optimistic about Matt Breida (hamstring) being able to play either.

If he's out as well, it's fair to expect Jordan Howard to serve as the team's primary early-down back, which would be a big boost for his fantasy outlook.

Jordan Howard Fantasy Outlook

Howard has not impressed in limited usage this year. He has turned 18 carries into just 14 rushing yards, though he does have 3 rushing TDs on the season. Howard had been phased out of the offense due to the emergence of Gaskin, as he hasn't played since Week 4.

But with Gaskin and Breida likely sidelined, Howard should be in for a ton of volume against the Arizona Cardinals this week. Arizona has been pretty beatable on the ground, surrendering the 12th-most rushing yards per game in the NFL (131.1).

Howard should cede some work to Patrick Laird as a receiver, however.

It's best to view Howard as a low-end RB3 assuming Breida can't go, while Laird won't be a fantasy option unless you're truly desperate in a much deeper format.
