Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

William Nylander To Score a Goal (+145)

The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing elimination and need to bring out all the stops to extend the series.

Not only are the Maple Leafs up against the wall, they are doing so without their best player, Auston Matthews, who is out for the second straight game.

This puts the pressure on the rest of the team to step up their offensive pressure, which leads me to William Nylander for a goal tonight.

Nylander ended the regular season with 40 goals for the second straight season but hasn't found the back of the net since March 26th. It was a bit of a cold streak to end the regular season, but nothing has really changed for him.

He's still seeing time on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, which has allowed him to put eight shots on goal in the only two playoff games he's played this season.

With Matthews out of the lineup, the Leafs need their second-best goal scorer to step up and help keep their season alive and force a Game 7.

Jeremy Swayman Over 27.5 Saves (-106)

When teams are facing elimination, I will continue to look toward the opposing goalie.

Desperation is a real factor for teams and that's where we find the Maple Leafs, as noted above. Given that, they should be looking to pile up the shots tonight and increase their potential offensive output.

This brings me to Boston Bruins' goalie, Jeremy Swayman, to hit over 27.5 saves. Swayman has been over this mark in three of four games this series, however, the most recent game went to overtime. It has to be noted that this is a 60-minute save prop.

Swayman has been under pressure for most of the series, as the Maple Leafs have controlled some of the pace, by piling up 343 Total Shot Attempts, compared to the Bruins at only 274.

The Leafs need to continue that trend tonight and keep constant pressure on Swayman if they have any chance to win this game.
