NHL Prop Bets
Sidney Crosby To Score a Goal (+130)
The Pittsburgh Penguins have a 3.32 implied goal total on the road to take on the Minnesota Wild, who are struggling defensively right now.
Since the start of January, the Wild are allowing 3.17 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. Add in the fact they also allow the fifth-most (1.67) High Danger Goals in the same situations, and you have a recipe for a defensive disaster.
When it comes to the Penguins, they are generating the third-most (12.68) High Danger Scoring Chances per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the start of January. That is great to see when they are facing an opponent who struggles with that very same thing.
This leads me to Sidney Crosby, who leads the Penguins in goals (27), High Danger Unblocked Shot Attempts (36), and High Danger Expected Goals (13.55). He is constantly firing the puck, and with his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, he is always in a spot to score.
Artemi Panarin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+108)
After a few slow games, it's time for a bounceback for Artemi Panarin.
Panarin is averaging 3.8 shots on goal per game this season, yet he has finished with just a pair of shots in each of his last three games.
This is rather unusual for a high-volume shooter, but a matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks should help him right the ship tonight. Whether you look at the last month or the entire season, the Blackhawks continue to sit in the bottom five of the league for the most Shot Attempts Allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
The New York Rangers have a solid 3.38 implied goal total tonight and should look to jump on this weak Chicago defense. With Panarin skating on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, he will have the chances to fire the puck against his former team.
