Duke at NC State Prop Bets

DJ Horne Over 16.5 Points (-118)

NC State guard DJ Horne has blossomed into one of the country's elite scorers over the last two months. The fifth-year senior has averaged 19.4 points per game in ACC play, leading the Wolfpack with 16.7 shot attempts per game. Coming off a 20-point outing against North Carolina, Horne is well-positioned to go over his points prop tonight.

Horne has notched at least 17 points in 10 of 18 conference games overall, but he's been especially lethal over the last nine. Over that span, Horne has cleared 16.5 points seven times and averaged 23.7 points per game. He's posted an absurd 30% usage rate over that span, attempting 17.6 shots per game.

While Duke features the ACC's third-best defensive rating, they've had difficulty slowing down the conference's top individual scorers. Seven players (including Horne) average more than 17.0 points per game in conference play. The Blue Devils have faced the other six, allowing five of them to score more than their season average.

Horne's recent production, coupled with Duke's difficulty tendency to give up big nights to opposing stars, is enough for me to consider DJ Horne Over 16.5 Points.

If we're buying into Horne's points prop, it makes sense to look at his threes props, too. Horne has averaged 3.0 made threes per game in ACC play, shooting 42% from beyond the arc. He's made at least three triples in 11 conference games and at least four six times. DJ Horne 3+ Made Threes is -130 while 4+ Made Threes is +182.

Jared McCain Over 13.5 Points (-104)

With Duke's total points prop set at 77.5, it's logical to target some of their player points props. Over their last five games, Jared McCain leads the Blue Devils with 15.6 points per game, yet his points prop is set at 13.5.

The freshman exploded in the month of February, averaging 16.6 points per game with a 23% usage rate last month. McCain went for at least 14 points in five of eight February games and shot 47% for the month.

Although he's coming off a seven-point effort against Virginia, NC State is a much more favorable matchup. In ACC play, the Wolfpack rank seventh in the ACC in defensive rating, and they've allowed the eighth-highest effective field goal percentage.

While NC State isn't a pushover on D, they're hardly defensive stalwarts. They've been especially vulnerable in transition. For the season, the Wolfpack have allowed 10.5 fastbreak points per game, second-most in the ACC. That bodes well for McCain as he's tied for sixth in the conference in fastbreak scoring, according to CBB Analytics.

If we're expecting McCain to have a strong scoring night, we can consider Jared McCain 3+ Made Threes (+136), too. NC State doesn't give up a ton of three-point attempts, but they've allowed the fifth-highest made three-point field goal percentage in ACC play. McCain is shooting 38% from beyond the arc and has hit at least three threes in four of his last six games.
