3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 11/14/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Jake Guentzel To Score a Goal (+125)

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a big 3.64 implied goal total tonight on the road to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This matchup should feature plenty of scoring from the Penguins' side of things, and that's where we'll look to Jake Guentzel for a goal tonight.

On the season, Guentzel has just five goals, but he should be scoring more. If we dig into some stats, we see his Expected Goals up at 8.5, which is the second-highest in the league. His Expected Goals per 60 minutes is up at 1.99, which is the sixth-highest in the league.

Guentzel is firing the puck with 46 shots on goal this season, and his underlying numbers show he should have more goals. This is the type of matchup that should allow him to score.

The Blue Jackets have a 70.16 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. Not surprisingly, that has led them to allow 3.21 goals in the same situations, which is the third-worst.

Guentzel is simply due for more goals based on his strong shot volume and chances created. With this weak defense, he should be able to light the lamp tonight.

Kyle Connor Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+115)

With 62 shots on goal, Kyle Connor has the NHL's seventh-most shots on goal this season.

Connor is the primary shooter for the Winnipeg Jets, as his 62 shots on goal are 22 higher than the next player for the Jets. He's on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, which routinely puts him in a position to fire the puck.

As a team, the Jets have a 63.16 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-best. They like their offense to get up and down the ice and create chances, with Connor being the primary driver of that.

He's hit the over on this prop eight times through his 14 games this season and is coming off a game where he had just two shots on goal. The two other times he ended with two shots on goal or fewer, he's followed that up with having five and six shots on goal.

It's a spot to bounce back and pile up the shots on goal.

Sam Reinhart Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-125)

The San Jose Sharks are a complete disaster this season.

With just two wins in their first 15 games, the Sharks are on pace to be among the worst teams ever. They've allowed a league-high 67 goals through 15 games and have scored a league-low 18 goals. We might be witnessing history and not in a good way.

They also come in with a 70.14 Corsi Against per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league.

For the Panthers, they have a slate-high 3.93 implied goal total, making them a clear team to target. The Panthers are also rocking a 66.06 Corsi For per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, putting them as the sixth-best team.

We'll turn to Sam Reinhart, who has been on fire to start the season with 11 goals, 10 assists, and 47 shots on goal through 14 games. That's good for 3.3 shots on goal per game, a mark he should be able to hit against the actual worst team in the league.
