3 NBA Star Player Prop Bets for Tuesday 2/27/24

Player props are a fun way to get involved with the NBA each night, especially when it comes to the game's elite players.

That's what we'll focus on here -- prop bets for the NBA's best players via FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA Star Player Props.

Using FanDuel Research's daily basketball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NBA player prop bets that look appealing via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Prop Picks

Donovan Mitchell Over 25.5 Points (-118)

The market isn't particularly high on Donovan Mitchell today, but I think we should be.

Mitchell is averaging 28.1 points per game this season. He's scored over 25.5 points in 62.2% of his games, so the 54.1% implied probability, courtesy of these -118 odds, feels off.

He and the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Dallas Mavericks in what should be a very friendly matchup for Mitchell.

The Mavericks give up the fifth-most points per game to shooting guards.

They're also letting up the third-most three-point makes (3PM) to this position, and Mitchell can be a flamethrower from downtown, netting 35.1% of his points from this area.

Dallas comes in with the league's 10th-worst defensive rating while playing at the ninth-fastest pace.

A poor defense combined with a major pace-up game for Mitchell, whose Cavs play at the NBA's 10th-slowest pace, could have him dominating tonight.

Mitchell has played in 10 games against teams that rank in the top 10 of pace, and he managed to average 28.7 points each contest during this span.

Further, Cleveland will be playing this one on their home court. Mitchell is accumulating a towering 30.3 points each home contest this season. He has exceeded 25.5 points in 16 out of 22 games (72.7%) at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, so I'd have a hard time siding with anything but the over on his points prop.

Jalen Brunson Under 29.5 Points (-104)

He's not a fun player to bet against, but Jalen Brunson might not have 30 points in him tonight.

For starters, the New York Knicks will be playing the second leg of a back-to-back tonight. In yesterday's game, Brunson saw a burdensome 40 minutes on the court.

Now, he comes into Tuesday's matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans with a questionable designation due to a neck injury.

If Brunson plays, fatigue could certainly come into play. This matchup isn't easy, either.

The Pelicans currently own the league's sixth-best defensive rating. They let up the ninth-fewest points to guards per 36 minutes, as well as the ninth-fewest free-throw attempts in this split.

New Orleans' interior defense isn't too shabby, either, giving up the fifth-fewest paint points per game.

Brunson nets 19.7% of his points from the foul line and 38.7% of his points in the paint.

Add in that the Knicks have just a 106.5 implied team total for this game, and my faith in the under grows. Although Julius Randle and OG Anunoby remain sidelined, the Knicks have plenty of rotation players who can step up to fill the scoring gaps, namely Donte DiVincenzo, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Josh Hart.

For what it's worth, Brunson has occasionally struggled when playing the second leg of a back-to-back. In this split, he is averaging 26.3 points and has scored under 29.5 points in five out of seven of those contests.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 11.5 Rebounds (-120)

Giannis Antetokounmpo is primed to play bully ball in tonight's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.

With a 15-42 record, the Hornets serve as one of the worst teams in the NBA. They surrender the fifth-most rebounds in the Association, including the fourth-most across their last 15 games.

Giannis is averaging 11.3 rebounds per game. If we check out a split that accounts for games wherein Giannis faced teams that rank in the bottom 12 of rebounding (including Charlotte), he is averaging 11.7 boards and cleared 11.5 rebounds in 11 out of 19 of those contests.

The Hornets are deferring rebound chances at the league's fourth-highest rate.

In looking at Charlotte's depth chart, we can see that they have a very small team. Nick Richards is the lone featured starter or rotation player who is taller than 6'7, and I have a hard time imagining that he would win this battle against Giannis.

Giannis sees 17.3 rebound chances per game, leading all players on the Milwaukee Bucks by a wide margin. The Hornets struggle with the league's fourth-worst field goal percentage, so we should see Giannis take advantage of the ample board opportunities in this one.
