NBA Prop Bets
Luguentz Dort Over 10.5 Points (+100)
Luguentz Dort can be quite inconsistent on the scoring end. This season, his scoring floor sits at a measly three points, while his ceiling sits at a lofty 29 points.
Disparity aside, I think Dort is set up nicely to score 11-plus points in tonight's matchup against the Chicago Bulls.
Starting power forward Jalen Williams -- who shoots the second-most field-goal attempts (FGA) on the team -- is out of the lineup for the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, which should allow Dort to take a few more shots than usual.
On the season, Dort is averaging 11.7 points. In his last seven games with Williams absent, Dort has averaged 13.6 points.
The Bulls give up the third-most three-point attempts (3PA) to forwards per 36 minutes. This is excellent news for Dort backers -- he scores 51.2% of his points from downtown and has a stellar 45.9% three-point percentage (3P%) going into the night.
Eleven points is a pretty low bar for a starter who should see ample three-point opportunities and is shooting well from behind the arc, and Williams' absence should only aid Dort in making his mark.
Dort cleared the over on this prop in both matchups against Chicago last season, and numberFire's model is expecting more of the same this season -- numberFire has him scoring 12.9 points tonight.
Santi Aldama Over 23.5 Pts + Reb (-113)
The Memphis Grizzlies have a lengthy injury report at the moment. Marcus Smart (29.9 minutes per game), Xavier Tillman (25.9 minutes), and Luke Kennard (21.5 minutes) all remain out in tonight's matchup against the Houston Rockets.
Given these injuries, I'm all in on Santi Aldama to put up big numbers.
Aldama started his first game of the season on Sunday, which resulted in a 28-point, 12-rebound performance.
Tillman has been out for Memphis in the last two games, which has moved Aldama up the depth chart for forwards. He's taken advantage of this opportunity by posting averages of 22.5 points and 11.0 rebounds over this short span.
Prior to those two games, Aldama had yet to surpass 26 minutes on the court. But in these two games, he averaged 37.5 minutes.
He should see 30-plus minutes on the court tonight (numberFire has him projected for 32.54 minutes), and he makes major use of this time -- Aldama averages 29.6 combined points and rebounds (PR) per 36 minutes.
He's in store for a nice matchup, too. The Rockets give up the eighth-most rebounds to forwards per 36 minutes. They also sacrifice the seventh-most 3PA to forwards per 36 minutes, which is where Aldama scores 43.7% of his points.
There have only been four games this season where Aldama has played 25-plus minutes, three of which have come consecutively going into tonight. He's averaged 32 PR in this three-game span, so 24 PR seems quite achievable. I'd even check out Santi Aldama To Record A Double-Double at +280.
Jaylen Brown Over 31.5 Pts + Reb (-104)
Jayson Tatum missed shootaround for the Boston Celtics this morning and is questionable (illness) for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
If Tatum is out, it feels mandatory to target Jaylen Brown.
Brown is averaging a whopping 31.5 points and 9.1 rebounds (40.6 PR) in his last 16 games without Tatum. These numbers are undeniable and make a great case for Brown to record 32-plus PR tonight.
But, we don't have confirmation on Tatum's status and can't rely on his absence just yet. The good news is that Brown has historically dominated the Bucks and should be primed for a great game, with or without Tatum.
Though Brown is averaging only 26.3 PR this season, he averaged 33.5 PR last year. He's 27 years old and hovering at the pinnacle of his career, so we should plan on regression to last year's numbers, even if Boston's stacked roster doesn't get him quite to the aforementioned 2022-2023 averages.
I think we see some of that regression tonight. In his last four games against Milwaukee, Brown is averaging 32.5 PR.
The Bucks have been terrible on defense this season. They have the eighth-worst defensive rating in the league and give up the eighth-most points to forwards per 36 minutes.
Milwaukee also allows the eighth-most rebounds and fourth-most offensive rebounds per game. Brown is second (behind only Tatum) in adjusted defensive rebound chance percentage among Boston starters. Brown is due for a big game.
