3 MLB Player Prop Bets to Target on Friday 9/8/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing.

Carlos Santana To Hit a Home Run (+440)

The Milwaukee Brewers have an elite matchup tonight and come in with a 4.37 implied run total.

They are on the road to take on the New York Yankees, who will have Luis Severino on the bump tonight. To say things haven't gone well for Severino this season would be putting it lightly.

Severino comes in allowing a .430 wOBA, .630 SLG, 5.56 xFIP, 2.56 HR/9, 39.9% fly-ball rate, and 39.2% hard-contact rate versus left-handed hitters this season. Those are flat-out staggeringly bad numbers and with the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium in play tonight, it could go bad quickly.

We'll turn to Carlos Santana, who has a .186 ISO, 88 wRC+, 39.8% fly-ball rate, and 33.8% hard-contact rate versus righties this season. Santana also has a bit of career success against Severino with a pair of home runs in 19 at-bats.

As usual, I'll look to add Santana To Record an RBI (+145), too.

Gunnar Henderson To Record an RBI (+110)

The Baltimore Orioles have one of the best offenses in the league and are always a great spot to look for some player props.

A 5.16 implied run total is a good indication we are in for some offense tonight and with a plus money prop, we have a clear spot to look.

Tanner Houck is on the mound and has struggled this season versus lefties with a .376 wOBA, .549 SLG, .303 BABIP, 2.35 HR/9, 40.3% hard-contact rate, and 4.21 xFIP.

We'll turn to Gunnar Henderson, who is on his way to the AL Rookie of the Year, coming in with a 132 wRC+, .362 wOBA, .313 BABIP, .265 ISO, 36.9% fly-ball rate, and 46.7% hard-contact rate versus righties.

It's all good news for Henderson and the Orioles' offense tonight.

Corey Seager To Record 2+ Hits (+165)

Corey Seager is in the midst of an elite season and is always capable of putting up massive numbers at the plate.

He is crushing righties with an otherworldly 195 wRC+, .457 wOBA, .344 ISO, .358 BABIP, 15.8% strikeout rate, 40.2% fly-ball rate, and 52.8% hard-contact rate. It's amazing what he is doing this season and with really solid plus money odds, I love this prop tonight.

Seager will be up against Paul Blackburn, who is not a pitcher we need to fear on the mound with a .341 wOBA, .419 SLG, .385 BABIP, 4.31 xFIP, and 22.6% strikeout rate versus lefties this season. Those are modest numbers across the board and Seager is simply a better hitter than Blackburn is a pitcher.
