News broke that Jacksonville Jaguars No. 1 wide receiver D.J. Chark was undergoing finger surgery, immediately resulting a boost in Laviska Shenault Jr.'s fantasy value.

Prior to the injury, Shenault looked like a lock for the No. 3 wideout spot on Jacksonville's depth chart. Now, that's certainly changed as uncertainty remains around a timeline for Chark's return.

Shenault checks in as WR44 according to FantasyPros' preseason average draft position (ADP) date for PPR formats.

Laviska Shenault Jr. Fantasy Value

The second-year wideout's fantasy value is certainly on the rise, especially given his placement as one of The Duel's top-5 fantasy football sleepers. If you're fantasy draft is soon, it may be a good idea to scoop Shenault up before word gets out of his huge upside in 2021.

Last year, Shenault finished with WR46 numbers despite playing a somewhat limited role. Shenault was something of a gadget player in his rookie season, as he saw 79 targets for 600 receiving yards and 18 rushes for 91 yards.

He's much more of a versatile receiver than that and could slot into a leading role with Chark's injury. For one, there's a new quarterback in town in Trevor Lawrence. Fantasy managers are already high on all of Jacksonville's receivers thanks to a step up in QB play, and now the No. 1 WR on the depth chart is missing vital chemistry-building time with the rookie gunslinger.

Marvin Jones is the other competitor for reps in this offense, but he's been prone to injuries in his career as well.

Shenault showcased his abilities last season. In 14 total games, he eclipsed double digits in fantasy points on four separate occasions. His best game came in Week 17 where he caught six balls on nine targets for 68 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Laviska Shenault Jr. ADP

The second-year wideout checks in as WR43 on The Duel's preseason fantasy football rankings. He owns an overall ADP of 113.3 on FantasyPros. Don't be shy of drafting him as a bench option while keeping an eye on Chark's injury. This leaves a serious possibility of starting Shenault in Week 1.
