The 2026 NFL season kicks off with a high-profile matchup as the Seahawks host the Patriots in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl.

With both teams entering a new campaign carrying championship expectations, Wednesday night’s opener gives us an immediate chance to dive into the betting markets.

Drake Maye to Record 25+ Rushing Yards (-128)

This is my favorite bet in the season-opener.

Drake Maye‘s running ability was a big part of his Year 2 breakout, and through two seasons, he’s averaged 29.0 rushing yards per game. In the regular season a year ago, he ran more in losses (33.0 yards per game) than in wins (25.1), which makes sense because a negative game script will usually lead to more drop backs (and more chances to scramble). The New England Patriots are 3.5-point road ‘dogs in this one.

Maye showed a huge rushing ceiling in the postseason, going for rushing outputs of 66, 10, 65 and 37 yards in his four playoff games — with the 37-yard day coming against the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

In a tough spot on the road against an elite Seattle defense, Maye’s legs should once again be a vital part of New England’s offense, especially if the Patriots get into a hole.

Jadarian Price Over 51.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

There’s always some uneasiness backing a rookie in Week 1, particularly a rookie running back because we just don’t know what anyone’s role will be until we see it.

I think that uncertainty has resulted in Jadarian Price‘s rushing prop being a little low, and there are some indicators pointing to Price having a hefty role right away.

The biggest of those indicators is that Seattle spent a first-round draft pick on Price. Backs taken in the first round typically get fed good volume — not always but that’s usually the case.

Secondly, the Seahawks will be without both of their main ball-carriers from last year as Zach Charbonnet is hurt and Kenneth Walker III left in free agency. In short, there are a lot of touches up for grabs, and those touches will likely be handled by Price and George Holani. If Seattle really believed in Holani and wanted him to be a sizable factor in their 2026 backfield, they wouldn’t have used a first-rounder on Price — or at least that’s how I’m viewing it.

Seattle ran for 141 yards versus the Pats in last year’s Super Bowl, and the ‘Hawks owned the third-highest rush-play rate in the NFL in 2025. They are committed to running the rock, and I think Price will see good volume in Week 1.

Byron Murphy II to Record a Sack (+210)

After the way Seattle’s defense wrecked the Pats’ offense in the Super Bowl, I’m sure the Patriots will throw out some new wrinkles tonight, especially since they’ve had so long to get ready for this game.

But I think they’ll still have trouble keeping Maye upright.

Seattle’s defensive line is loaded, and Maye takes a lot of sacks. In last year’s playoffs, Maye was sacked at least five times in each of the Patriots’ four games. In his career, Maye has been sacked 81 times through 30 regular-season starts.

Seattle sacked Maye six times in the Super Bowl. Murphy accounted for two of those, and he notched seven sacks in the regular season. I like these odds for him to tally a sack in the opener.
