Fantasy managers have been waiting for a true breakout campaign from Evan Engram ever since his stellar rookie season in 2017. He finished as fantasy's TE5 in PPR leagues that year, but he hasn't even cracked the top 12 since then.

That's almost entirely due to his inability to stay healthy, having missed at least five games in each of the last two seasons. If he stays on the field he could be in for an absolutely massive campaign, but his injury history makes him a risky pick.

Evan Engram Fantasy Football Outlook

He's currently coming off the board with an average draft position (ADP) of TE6, per FantasyPros. In order to land Engram you're going to have to select him over some real talents, like Marquise Brown, Michael Gallup and Tom Brady, to name a few.

If he plays a full 16-game season he's probably going to be worth it, though. He was the TE7 on a per-game basis in 2019, and was TE4 from Week 1-8 before suffering a foot injury in Week 9. That level of productivity combined with the potential for a second-year leap from Daniel Jones gives Engram a massive ceiling.

But draft him at your own risk. He had Lisfranc surgery this offseason, which is definitely worrying, and he's missed a grand total of 19 out of a possible 32 games since 2018.

That boom-or-bust potential could make him a great target in best ball drafts, though. In best ball leagues, fantasy managers benefit from the blow-up games without suffering through the down weeks.

Definitely one of the riskier picks in the draft, Engram checks in at TE6 in our 2020 rankings.
