The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2020 offseason was one of the best we've ever seen. That shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering the team signed the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady. But the Bucs also added a truly insane amount of talent in the 2020 NFL Draft.
And that's not a fluke, either. In fact, Tampa Bay has assembled an unbelievable collection of talent thanks in large part to its excellent work in recent drafts.
Let's start by looking at the 2020 draft, which the Bucs absolutely nailed. They picked right tackle Tristan Wirfs in the first round, and he responded with the 11th-best overall grade among all tackles, per ProFootballFocus. Not rookie tackles, all NFL tackles. That almost never happens for a rookie OL.
In the second round, they picked up another future cornerstone in Antoine Winfield Jr. Already a bonafide playmaker in the secondary, Winfield received PFF's second-highest grade as a run defender among all qualified safeties. Bruce Arians even argued he should be the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
And don't forget about fifth-round pick Tyler Johnson, who has had some real flashes at WR this year.
Over the past four seasons, Tampa Bay has continued to amass an insane group through the NFL Draft. That list includes stars like Devin White, Chris Godwin and Vita Vea, as well as rock-solid starters like Ronald Jones, Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jordan Whitehead, Alex Cappa, Jamel Dean, Scotty Miller and Mike Edwards.
That's a ridiculous amount of success stories, and those guys make up the vast majority of Tampa Bay's Super Bowl-caliber roster.
While GM Jason Licht's work with trades and free-agent acquisitions like Tom Brady, Jason Pierre-Paul, Shaquille Barrett and Ndamukong Suh may grab all the headlines, don't forget just how good Tampa Bay has been in the NFL Draft recently.
